   2.0       CONSTRUCTION

 

     2.1          GENERAL

S            Hand laminated in temperature controlled facilities.

S            Top quality Lloyds approved materials.

 

     2.2          HULLS AND BRIDGEDECK

S            Solid GRP lay-up incorporating bi-axial fibers with reinforcement in high stress areas.

S            Isophthalic type gelcoat used, with the first layers of powder bound fibers laid down with isophthalic resins, using the Scott Bader System for protection against osmosis.

 

     2.3          DECK

S            Laminate cored with end grain balsa in horizontal areas, with plywood pads where fittings are sited.

S            Bi-axial fibers incorporated in the lay-up, with reinforcement in high stress areas such as chainplate locations.

U            Moulded non-slip areas painted with matt Awlgrip linear polyurethane with "Griptex" added, providing both superior non-slip and glare reduction.

 

     2.4          BULKHEADS

S            Marine plywood bulkheads bonded to hulls and deck with CSM and "stitched" to hulls with unidirectional rovings.

 

     2.5          INTERIOR FURNITURE UNITS

S            Units moulded GRP or fabricated marine plywood.

S            All units bonded to hulls and deck assembly with CSM.

 

     2.6          BUOYANCY

S            Built-in buoyancy compartments forward and aft in each hull.

S            Water tanks, located in hulls, form a double bottom in that area.

S            Nacelle is foam filled.

 

     2.7          HULL/DECK JOINT

S            External flanges bonded and riveted together then entire joint bonded on inside with GRP before flanges trimmed.

 

     2.8          FITTING OF EQUIPMENT

S            All cutouts in cored deck areas sealed with gelcoat or epoxy.

S            Stainless steel (SS) backing plates or large diameter washers fitted to all thru-bolted fasteners.

     3.0       HULLS AND DECK FEATURES AND FITTINGS

 

     3.1          HULLS AND BRIDGEDECK

S/U         "Bright White" gelcoat with custom striping . Stripes are "Bright Green" and "Bright Yellow".

S            Hull/Deck joint covered with anodized aluminum rubrail with moulded rubber insert.  Bows and sterns covered with matching GRP moulding.

S            Central full length nacelle to provide foredeck lockers, lower seating in salon allowing low profile main cabin coachroof for less windage, fuel tank locker under cockpit, and engine bay aft.

S            Skeg hung rudders.

S            Sillette drive leg and engine exhaust fitting mounted on nacelle transom, heater exhaust fitting on port bridgedeck transom.

S            SS stern swim steps with white "Kingboard" tread, port & stbd.

C/A        Bronze Dynaplate port hull aft for SSB and aft of midships port and stbd inboard for lightning ground.

A            Bottoms, including rudders and nacelle, coated with one coat of C-Defence epoxy and 3 coats of C-Defence "Copperbot" epoxy/copper to resist osmosis and provide long term antifouling. Currently coated over with Petit Trinidad SR bottom paint.

 

     3.2          DECK

 

     3.2.1       GENERAL

S/U         Gelcoat is "Bright White" with "Bright Green" accent band around cabin

U            Non-slip deck areas are finished in polyurethane paint.  Color is pale gray matt.

 

     3.2.2       FOREDECK

U/E         30in high SS double rail bowrails, port & stbd, w/ double lifelines across front of foredeck.  Gibb pelican hooks on lifelines.

S            Lead block for genoa furling line fitted to starboard bowrail.

A            Chocks on bowrails for whisker pole.

S            Solid foredeck incorporating two large self-draining lockers with GRP hatch covers.

S/C         Anchor/rode locker forward, fore/aft divider bulkhead, SS U-bolts for anchor chain.  Hatch fitted with hasp and lock.

S/C/A     Sail/LPG locker aft of anchor/rode locker.  Custom rack for LPG cylinders.  Hatch cover fitted with gasket and SS "Bailey Locks".  Locking system accessed through anchor/rode locker.

     3.2.2       FOREDECK (continued)

S            Lead block for Genoa furling line fitted to stbd stern rail and 6in aluminum cleat fitted to inboard side of stbd aft cabin house at cockpit coaming.

S            Large hatch, with GRP cover, in aft deck/cockpit coaming  for access to engine bay .  Hatch cover fitted with locking pin accessed from inside engine bay.

     3.2.7       COCKPIT

O/C/A     GRP canopy over cockpit with clear acrylic windshields (windscreens) port & stbd.  Wraparound SS handrail both sides and aft.  Nonslip on top deck.

                    Overhead viewing panel w/bronze tint acrylic glazing.  6ft 4in headroom at

helm.  Custom removable side and back panels in waterproof Sunbrella fabric w/ clear acrylic windows to enclose cockpit.  GRP bottom rails for side panels.  Back panel extended aft from canopy with SS support hoop to provide vertical aft panel. (Note: New enclosure panels 2003).

A            Demister/fan for starboard windshield.

A            Red/White LED dome light overhead on centerline.

A            Waterproof cable glands for mast wiring through canopy and through cabin deck under stbd windscreen.

S/U         SS roller on edge of cabin deck/bulkhead for leading halyards from bottom of mast.  Lewmar 30ST halyard winch and 4 aluminum jam cleats on bulkhead under roller.

U            Spinlock line clutches on coachroof inside canopy for staysail sheet, stbd, and control lines, port & stbd.

U/A        Companionway door on port side of cabin bulkhead, one-piece 12mm (15/32in) bronze tint acrylic w/ SS lift-off hinges. Storage cover in green acrylic with zippered closure.

S/A         Integrally moulded steering and instrument console with hinged bronze tint acrylic lid on stbd side of cabin bulkhead.  Soft grip SS steering wheel on front of console, w/ steering lever for drive leg under, just above sole. Single lever engine controls on stbd side.   Engine instrument panel and hour meter, switches and indicator lights for windscreen demister, windlass breaker/switch and emergency battery connector switch on top of console.  2 x 12VDC sockets on port side.  SS louvered vents on upper stbd side and lower port side.

U/A        Radar display, VHF radio, GPS receiver, autopilot compass/control head, display units for wind speed, wind direction, Knot Log, fish finder/depth sounder, electronic steering compass and control, fitted to bulkhead over helm console.

S            Integrally moulded "L" shaped seats port & stbd.

O/U        Seat cushions, 4 piece set.  2in closed cell foam with reversible covers of green acrylic one side, white vinyl reverse.

     3.2.8       ENGINE BAY

S            Accessed from cockpit and aft deck.

O           Fully lined on all sides and overhead with acoustic foam insulation.

A            Dome light overhead.

S            One piece GRP liner with integral engine bearers, oil drip pan and bilge.

O/A        Yanmar 3 cylinder 38hp FWC diesel auxiliary engine fitted w/ high output alternator and Seafrost refrigeration compressor.      

O/U        Eberspacher (Espar) diesel fuel cabin heater mounted on port side.

C            Seafrost AC refrigeration mounted on stbd side outboard.  Dedicated 110VAC receptacle.

C            Engine drive refrigeration components and seawater strainer mounted on acrylic board on stbd side inboard.

A            Dual Racor diesel fuel filters mounted on aft bulkhead. Selector valves mounted on acrylic board on stbd side inboard.

C            "Smart Alternator Regulator" on forward bulkhead port side.

 

     4.0       INTERIOR FEATURES AND FITTINGS

 

     4.1          GENERAL

 

     4.1.1       JOINERY

S            Bulkheads, doors and wood furniture units faced in American Cherry veneer with solid cherry mouldings and trims, except where stated otherwise. All veneer facings, wood mouldings and trims finished in sprayed two-part polyurethane lacquer.

U            Veneer bulkhead trims throughout.

S            Bulkheads, cabin door and hull sides in head compartment and shower stall faced in silver grey pattern Formica.

S            Radiused corners on doors, drawer fronts, counter tops, mouldings and trims.

S            Locking handles on all cabin doors.

A            Self-latching door stops on cabin doors and shower door.

S            Double action push button catches for locker doors and drawers.

S            Carpet trims on base of bulkheads and aft cabin lockers.  Capped with wood trims on bulkheads.

 

     4.1.2       GRP MOULDINGS

S            Units for salon settee, navigation area console/chart table and outboard counter/locker units, galley inboard and outboard counter/locker units, aft cabin

              sole/berth/seat units and 1 piece unit for head compartment below beltline.  Horizontal surfaces cored with balsa.

S            Wood furniture units, locker doors and drawer fronts for galley and navigation area finished in sprayed two-part polyurethane paint to match GRP furniture units.

S            GRP mouldings and painted wood modules in light gray.  Matching locker doors and dark gray drawer fronts in galley and navigation area.

S            Settee, aft cabin berths and seats faced with carpet.

 

     4.1.3       LOCKERS

S            All surfaces inside hanging lockers faced with 12mm foam backed vinyl

S            Wood surfaces inside all other lockers finished in sprayed polyurethane lacquer or brushed grey rubberized paint.  Hull and deckhead surfaces finished with brushed flocoat or grey rubberized paint.

A            Hull and deckhead surfaces in shelf lockers insulated with closed cell neoprene foam, 8mm (5/16in) above waterline, 16mm below.  Insulation covered with 12mm (15/32in) foam backed vinyl.

 

     4.1.4       HULL AND DECKHEAD

S            Visible hull and contoured deckhead surfaces faced with white12mm (15/32in) foam backed vinyl.

Cushions in "soft tufted" style covered in   wear resistant, polyester, burgundy Chenille, Teflon treated for stain and soil resistance.  4 matching scatter cushions. (Recovered 2002).  4 co-ordinated scatter cushions in "Como Larkspur" (blue/green/purple/burgundy/gold).  

C/U/A     Seat cushions 21in deep, with 1in knee roll, of 3in high density CM60 foam with polyester "Luxbond" facing.  Back cushions of medium density CM40 foam, 3in thick at bottom tapering to 2in at top.  Faced with polyester "Luxbond".

S/A         Storage lockers under settee all around.

S/C         Custom table in white King Starboard with folding hinge on centerline to allow for walkway access to forward storage lockers.

C            Custom lockers forward of settee.  Sliding doors over lockers and removable bottom boards with additional storage under. Air Conditioning unit mounted in starboard locker.

A            Custom, fitted, combination bedding set w/ storage bag,.  Zippered interchangeable halves with cotton/polyester shells with polyester fill.  "Winter" (10oz), "summer" (5oz) and "tropical" (shell only, no fill) halves.  Green exterior and grey lining with fitted beige sheets with Velcro attachment strips and matching pillow cases.  Set reversible by switching port to stbd aft cabins.

C            Sit shower stall, forward, separated from cabin by partial bulkhead with bronze acrylic top panel and door.  Shelves inboard and outboard.  Swing-up seat for access to hanging locker.  Moulded GRP pan with teak grate.

U            "Telephone" shower head with shut-off valve, on flex hose.  Single lever mixer control.

C            Splash proof halogen light on inboard bulkhead in stall.

U            Hanging locker for foul weather gear, with door, forward of shower.  Doorway gasket.  Access panel to bow compartment.
